Workshops at Photoworks Weekender

I spent two days in Brighton this October to facilitate photography workshops with schools for half term. It was nice to be invited by Photoworks to be a part of their Weekender and assist artist and educator Eva Jonas who led the workshop at the Phoenix Arts Space.

The students had the chance to explore Photo Fringe’s Collectives Hub exhibition “Common Ground.” Alejandra Carles-Tolra’s project “The Bears,” and the exhibition “A Place In Change.” We had engaging conversations about the work on display, as I tried to prompt them to think about the themes in the work, specifically around home, community and connections.

After that, they got hands-on and made cards that would slot together to create interconnected structures, playing on the themes from the work they had just seen.
